Utzschneider & Cie.
Muster-Blatter der Wandplatten von Utzschneider & Cie, Saargemund.

Ca. 1895-1904.

A wonderful set of salesman's colored cards illustrating Art Nouveau, Aesthetic and Victorian-style tile patterns. Paul Utzschneider was a Bavarian who had worked with Wedgwood in England and in 1800, along with Joseph Farby, he took over a struggling pottery manufacturer in Sarreguemines, Lorraine. The company prospered, and in the Victorian era they became especially well-known for their maiolica and tiles. This small portfolio of pattern cards illustrates a variety of their colorful tile patterns.

55 double-sided, 82 single-sided, and 3 single-sided folding colored cards, all housed in a pocket portfolio with string ties, with two price lists, one dated January, 1895, the other dated January, 1904. Light soil, a little wear.
