Arts and Crafts Furniture. Shop of the Crafters. Turn of the Century Editions: 1983. "Cincinnati was an important center of the American Arts and Crafts Movement. Reproduced here is the entire 1906 catalog of the Oscar Onken Company showing sophisticated furniture in the "mission" style, some pieces featuring inlay. Shop of the Crafters furniture was promoted vigorously and consequently was widely distributed throughout the United States. A central European influence can be detected in some of the pieces, particularly when viewed in the context of the catalog's illustrated Viennese room settings of the period. This book shows a rich variety of designs as an alternative to the pure rectilinear forms often seen in other Arts and Crafts mission furniture. Kenneth Trapp, formerly with the Cincinnati Art Museum, has written an Introduction discussing the company and its history in Cincinnati." Softcover. 7.5"x10.5", 71 pages, black & white illustrations. New.

The text also includes information about Gustav Stickley's fuming techniques, wood finishes, and construction features. This edition also contains a section on fireplace accessories and photos of some exceptional examples of Gustav Stickley's work in private collections." Craftsman Fabrics and Needlework from the Craftsman Workshops. Razmataz Press: 1995. 2nd printing. "This previously obscure catalog issued by Gustav Stickley provides insights into the extended range of textiles and other "soft goods" that he offered for sale as accessories to his furniture. In this book, Stickley provides descriptions and his recommendations for use of his fabrics as portieres, window curtains, upholstery, table scarfs, and centerpieces. His call for the arrangement of color, form, and texture in the selection of furniture and accompanying accessories, based on the principle of maintaining a complementary foreground-background relationship, anticipated what many Arts and Crafts collectors are now seeking - a sensitivity to and a sensibility about harmonious integration of all elements in one's living space." Softcover. 6"x8", 126 pages, black & white illustrations. New.
